Nothing would imperil Israel more than a weak United States of America. The last 8 years have significantly reduced America's strength both economically and militarily as well as its political standing around the world. Thus, it is time for a president that is interested in and willing to reverse this damage.

Obama is better for the US and thus better for Israel
On all three fronts, economically, militarily and internationally Obama is a stronger candidate. In General Collin Powell’s words:
"I come to the conclusion that because of his ability to inspire, because of the inclusive nature of his campaign, because he is reaching out all across America, because of who he is and his rhetorical abilities -- and we have to take that into account -- as well as his substance -- he has both style and substance -- he has met the standard of being a successful president, being an exceptional president," said Powell in his sweeping endorsement.

Israel is worse off after 8 years of the Bush presidency
Consider the rising threats to Israel that evolved during the Bush presidency:

  • Iran is a nuclear power
  • Hezbollah de-facto controls Lebanon
  • Hamas has created a terror state in Gaza

McCain is most likely to continue the current policy resulting in making a very bad situation even worse.
